Verbatim ssd 2.5 128gb black edition review
For those wishing to install this SSD into their desktop machines a 3. Using this information I tried to determine if this SSD was a rebranded model.
Unfortunately my research on the web yielded little answer to that question. Select your source and destination and then grab a snack while the copy process occurs.
Then swap your SSD for your hard drive and you should be set. I will have do some further investigating although the MacBook Pro is still appreciably faster. The Verbatim SSD comes in a very plain white box with only the most important features, capacity and a picture printed on it. Unlike the earlier drives we've reviewed, this one is of the S-ATA II-variety, which already sets limitations to the maximum transfer speeds. Also the bundle is very minimalistic, there's only the SSD and a quick installation guide included in the retail box.
Then again, the only extras I can think of are a data cable and a mounting adapter, the first of which are included with the motherboards and the latter isn't really needed with just about all new cases having native support for these 2,5" drives.
Verbatim 2. I installed this into my aging MSI Wind Netbook and it breathed a new breath of life into it and seems to have added nearly an hour to its battery life. The cloning software was simple. It took about 30 mins for the entire cloning process. I installed the drive into the machine and booted right up in a fraction of the time and is running flawlessly. Can't imagine what 2 of these would be like in Raid 0 on a mainstream system. Pros: comes with exteror drive case and 3.
Overall Review: didn't use the cloning software. Pros: easy to install, quiet, faster than spinning drive, quick startup, reliable brand, decent price at the time I bought it, helped battery life somewhat. It hasn't turned my netbook into a Core I7 powerhouse, but it has helped get the most out of the AMD C60 processer my netbook came with. Overall Review: I bought the drive when it was on sale here at Newegg, installed it a couple of weeks later in my Acer AO netbook, and have been using it ever since.
I didn't use the cloning software or brackets, since I hadn't anything important to move over from the old hard drive. No glitches with the install, and I've been pleased with the performance. This drive of course is sata II, which I think is all this netbook supports, but it does definitely load Windows faster than the prior spinning drive did.
I'd say battery life also increased some, maybe a half hour or so. It's been working so well, and so far has been reliable, that last week I downloaded and installed the new Windows 8 Consumer Preview, also via usb stick. I think it installed even faster than Windows 7 did, probably because it didn't have any Acer software with it.
Windows 8 loads even more quickly than 7, am enjoying playing with it. Cons: 1 Performed clone operation from working Hitachi Travelstar with a fresh install and updated Windows bit OS. This is a Toshiba Satellite Ld-s 2 System booted normally, verified Firefox was able to connect to Internet; however the Windows Performance rating software was unable to run.
This was a red flag but I didn't know it. Cons: Where to start? There are no directions, so if you are not a computer person, forget it. Tech support was less than helpful and never sent the directions to me after my 10 second phone call was cut short by the tech.
